U.S. broadband service provider,
Clearwire has revised its LTE deployment plan. Company now plans to have
2,000 LTE sites on air by the end of June 2013 and expects to start
receiving Sprint prepayment installments in June 2013.
Trends in Europe, Middle East and Africa
all point in the same direction, as operators know that brand
innovation relies on the speed at which they adopt LTE. Concurrent to
LTE investments should be investments in ‘Diameter’ signalling
infrastructure – critical behind-the-scenes communications necessary to
make LTE succeed.
Nokia Siemens Networks has announced
that China Mobile has selected the company for the deployment of TD-LTE
in three cities by the end of 2012. The deployment is part of China
Mobile’s large-scale pre-commercial trial of its TD-LTE network.
On a global basis, subscriptions
to HSPA mobile broadband are growing rapidly. There were 900 million
global subscriptions for HSPA at of the end of December 2011, rising to
1 billion by 2Q 2012. This number is expected to reach 2.8 billion by
the end of 2015. There were 476 commercial HSPA networks in 181
countries worldwide reported in September 2012.4

Sprint's LTE network is now available in
32 metropolitan areas with new markets announced today. Operator has
started offering LTE services in Hutchinson and McPherson, Kan.; New

Verizon Wireless has announced
introduction of LTE network in 23 new markets and expansion in 41
existing markets. With this addition, operator's LTE network is now

Switched Fallback) test to reduce voice setup delays from LTE to GSM
network by two seconds, improve handover success rates and provide end

Telenor has launched its 4G LTE network
in 11 cities and towns in Norway. Company plans to continue to develop
the network at a rapid pace to provide 4G coverage to one third of
Norway population by the end of the year.
Yota has announced introduction of LTE Advanced technology in select
LTE base stations in Moscow. According to operator, it will provide data
rates up to 300 Mbit/s on the user's devices. Yota had launched
commercial LTE network in Moscow earlier this year.
